The University of Texas at Austin has one of the best developed lacrosse programs in the Southwest. We have a winning tradition and a legacy of producing strong student athletes. During the last decade, Texas Men’s Lacrosse has moved into the national picture annually finishing in the MCLA top 25 and being among the 16 teams selected out of 102 MCLA Division 1 programs to participate in the National Championship tournament.
Here at Texas Lacrosse, we focus on two processes: the student and the athlete, in that order. At a university which has consistently attracted the largest number of National Merit Finalists in the nation, we need good individuals with pride, character and drive to excel in the classroom.
At Texas, we work hard, play hard, develop as athletes and foster a respect for the national growth of the sport. We are a program that takes so much pride in the way we conduct ourselves on and off the field. Texas lacrosse players are ambassadors to the school and the state of Texas as we frequently travel the country for games and tournaments. Winning is a product of our work ethic and determination towards development every day. The program sets long term goals then focuses on the, “what’s important now” approach. Understanding what’s important now will tell us what we need to do to achieve those goals and make them a reality.
This team serves the greater Texas community by spreading the sport throughout. Each Texas athlete understands his responsibility as a role model and his ability to affect the lives of those who follow the sport and the team.
